Description:

From a secret underground shipbuilding facility, Samsung Heavy Industries has just revealed the first 21.000 TEU ship for OOCL.
I don't have any other idea - I haven't seen a trace of this project, then suddenly BOOM! there goes another ultra large container vessel... ;)

Her IMO number is marked on the superstructure, but it's not clear, so help is welcome.

*IMO added according to Equasis.org

Andrew it's a lot about baked air (as we say in Dutch). If you put an extra layer on deck, no matter where the deckhouse is, you add roughly 1000 teu extra to the capacity.
Maersk said that the new EEE will be able to load 11 (eleven) high high-cubes on deck. I'm sure OOCL's stated capacity is based on twelve layers, or maybe even a ridiculous thirteen high (which will be non high-cubes then) behind the accommodation, I seem to recall I read that somewhere at the time they were ordered.

Jan for the moment you will be correct, but in the past they said that so many times. These days ten to eleven thousand teu ships are going to west-afriaca and south-america. Not that long ago that would have been perceived as completely impossible.

Cheers,
Roy

Likely her European ports of call will be limited to Asia ... FXT - RTM - GDN - FXT ... Asia. Odd, but that's apptly the plan. Wonder if this will work out.

Thanks for your comments, also for her IMO number, Jens.

This one was assembled in a dry dock, out of sight from my usual spotting points, and the yard itself is definitely large enough to "hide" a vessel, even the huge one like this... :)

Cheers

Great catch Vlad, given that these are classed as 21,000teu i am even more intrigued at what the true capacity of the 2nd gen Triple E's will be, given they have a different bay lay out e.g fwd/aft 6-13-5 as opposed to the usual MOL/OOCL 8-11-5 plus they one extra deck on the accommodation.

cheers
Andrew

Boom! there she was, Scritti Politti 1988.
Her IMO is 9776171 but it seems you already found that.
Yes Jens 007 is doing his work.....
Cheers,
Roy

Yd 2172. Five more (2173-2177) to come with deliveries currently listed as all in 2nd half 2017.

They are listed as sisters of MOL TRIUMPH + 3

Hi Vlad,
Thanks for the picture.
Equasis says she was launched december 24th. Maybe she was in a not easily visible location (must be), but then she's huge and hard to miss.
I see that her lashing bridges are now five high for to outer two rows contrary to 'normally' only the outer row.
Cheers,
Roy

It's quite reassuring that we can still count on our undercover agent in the Far East, James "Lappino" Bond, to blow the whistle on such hideous secret underground facilities! :-))

Cheers
