Description:
Bristol City Line’s 1954 Readhead, South Shields, built GLOUCESTER CITY was sold at Avonmouth in May 1968 to Maraship General Maritime Enterprises of Piraeus and renamed ST.JOHN with a dollar sign painted on the blue star on her funnel. She was here photographed loading cargo for Djakarta at Montréal on 22 September 1968. During the voyage she was wrecked at Fort Dauphin, Madagascar, on 30th October.
