Type 12 Rothesay-class completed in 1961 by Harland and Wolff. She was used as a target ship and sunk in August 1986 by a Tigerfish torpedo fired from HMS Tireless. I presume she had just come out of refit when photographed as the pennant number was missing and the name painted over.

Sadly I have exhausted my collection of old slides. Wish I could offer more.

Served on board as USN exchange rating (petty officer first class) in February 1967 while in NATO Standing Force (Matchmaker III). Family from Wales and England, so I was at home. Photo is now in my collection and I hold it dearly as a great naval experience. Seeking cloth ship's crest for my USN leather flight jacket - any help appreciated - will pay.
