Description:

This photograph of GEORGETTA was taken by the late Richard Parsons of Bristol

Built in 1955 by Doxford, Sunderland, for Sir William Reardon Smith as LEEDS CITY, she became ELLISPONTOS in 1967, then GEORGETTA in 1970, OSIA IRINI CHRYSOVALANDOU in 1975 and finally STELITSA in 1979. After a period of lay up at Piraeus, she finally arrived at Aliaga in July 1985 to be scrapped.

Owned by Greeks, she was on charter to Thai National Shipping Lines when photographed, it is thought, at Hamburg in August or September 1972 after she had put back in tow with steering trouble after sailing from Hamburg for Rotterdam on 5th August 1972

Beautiful from this angle Malcolm. Such graceful lines for a cargo vessel.
