Description:

The Chinese bulk carrier PU AN HAI is shown here leaving the Verolme repair yard at Rozenburg in 1985.
She had just been taken over from the FRIGGA Seerederei, who operated her as Hermod. She was the second of three similar sized bulkcarriers, built by Blohm & Voss. I could be mistaken, but I think at the time she could have been the largest ship under the Chinese flag.

Hi, i think I was at that little semaphore building, with a small parking place for spotters. I live about 3 miles from there. I really do not recall any conversation, I am afraid. The tugs were there because she had just left the shipyard, and perhaps because the crew was new they wanted to take more time to get the ship safely on the go.

Hello Pieter,
I have exactly the same shot as you, we must have been stood very close to each other, may be we even had a chat together.
Why did she have tugs in assistance?, you can clearly see she has a bow tug attatched.
