Description:
Seen on 20th September 2020 lying in her final resting place in the Jervois Basin in the Port Adelaide River, the paddle steamer TRAFALGAR was built in 1877 by T.J. McDonald of Echuca, Victoria, for W.J. Davies, carrying both cargo and passengers on the Murray River. One cargo consisted of 208 prize Merino rams and a purebred racehorse worth 800 guineas. She was refitted in the late 1880s and for some years ran a regular passenger service between Echuca and Mildura. She was converted to a dumb barge in 1933, and towed to Port Adelaide in 1447, having been purchased by Reginald Crouch for conversion to a ketch, but weaknesses in the iron frames meant the conversion was not viable, and she was partially dismantled.
