Description:

Bristol City Line’s 1954 Readhead, South Shields, built GLOUCESTER CITY was photographed passing Portishead outbound from Avonmouth on 25th May 1968 as ST.JOHN following her sale to Maraship General Maritime Enterprises of Piraeus, a one ship company formed in 1968 which had minimised the use of paint by simply painting a dollar sign on the blue star on her funnel.

ST.JOHN was sadly wrecked at Fort Dauphin, Madagascar, on 30th October 1968 during a voyage from Montreal to Djakarta.

Please note that Miramar website lists her IMO number as 5513255
