22 August 1984 factory vessel "BUREVESTNIK"was anchored on the road of Liepaya when at a speed 18 knots hit left side motor vessel"AKADEMIK SHUKHOV"at 11.08 local time.At left board of the ship in area of cargo hold#2 appeared a hole with length 6.2 m,height 8 m and width 9,5 m,and hold#2 was right away flooded,and the vessel heeled 8° .At 13.45 local time to the right board moored soviet naval fire boat"PZHK-415" from which"BUREVESTNIK"recieved five ejector pumps.At 14.10 local time leaks was found at cargo hold#1.At 14.22 local time was decided to transfer all crew to another vessel and to run aground damaged vessel (list of the vessel 19° at that moment).At 17.25 local time vessel ran aground.By the time of graunding list of the vessel became 25,but after grounding list decreaased to 6°,also all 3 cargo holds werw flooded.On august 25 heavy gale started.All major works were stopped until 7 september.On 5 september was put patch on place of damage.On 7 september water from tweendecks#1,2,3 was pumped out.At 17.47 local time the vessel floated with list 14°.After dewatering of carco holds on 9 september 1984 "BUREVESTNIK"was docked with list 6°.
