1. "LAD Y." (as spelt by Lloyds, albeit possibly in error instead of LADY) had sailed from Bangkok on 15 December 1989 bound for Bandar Abbas
2. Her owner, Haltree Enterprises Ltd. of London EC2 (later 63 Jersey Road, Hounslow) had in 1987/8 purchased two other ships as follows:
a) CATALAN (IMO 7357921, ex- CATALAN BAY) - sold/transferred in 1991 to Unipak Shipping & Trading (Private) Ltd of Karachi, her name shortened to ALAN
b) CONFIDENCE (IMO 8105258, ex - DYNAMIC CONFIDENCE) - sold Greece in 1991
Haltree therefore had a "naming policy" of using one word from the name of each of the ships they purchased
Note: In 1994, Unipak purchased FRIENDLY (IMO 7326087, ex - FRIENDLY ISLANDS, built as CUNARD CHAMPION, scrapped in 1997)
A link between Haltree and Unipak therefore seems to have been possible
