The Italian owner V.Nardi's 1944 Chester, Pa. built bulk carrier GOLD STAR, a former T2-SE-A1 standard type tanker converted in 1961, had arrived at Avonmouth on 4th November 1963 from Philadelphia with a cargo of grain. Along with another similar ship, the 1938 built BLUE STAR, she were managed from New York and Genoa, where Bartoloemo Mela acted as agent. Here, GOLD STAR is seen at New Orleans in 1971.
