This tanker was built 1957 by Bethlehem Steel, Quincy, Mass. and was of 31 145 t.dw.
Owner was Kurz Tankers Inc, who had secured a long-time charter to Mobil Oil, Kurz Tankers Inc. was an affiliate of Keystone Shipping Corp, Philadelphia, which was established in 1919 by Charles Kurz. The company is still owned today by the Kurz family, as one of the last large private-owned shipping companies in the U.S.

In 1985 this tanker was renamed MEACHAM. Same year she was transferred to U.S. Government, and placed in the Reserve fleet.
In February 2005 she was reported sold to breakers.
