The second ship with a Dutch connection is actually a Norwegian ship (for the time being) but with the Dutch ship delivery company Redwise delivering the ship to Canadian owners.

The ship is the ferry Svanoy built in 1992 by Johan Drage in Rognan, Norway, and measuring 1639 gt. It has a capacity of 299 passengers and 89 cars on two levels.

The Province of Quebec's ferry corporation La Société des Traversiers du Québec has chartered the ship for one year, with possible extensions, to serve the St-Joseph-de-la-Rive to Ile-aux-Coudres route while other ferries are in refit, and to serve as a back-up for other routes if needed.

Svanoy registered in Canada
The former Norwegian ferry Svanoy has now been registered in St.John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, and will soon take up its one year charter to the Société des Traversiers du Québec.

Although Logistec was reported to be the prime contractor for the charter, the owner's representative is now listed as Canfjord Holdings Ltd of St.John's, which would indicate that Canship is doing more than just supplying some ship's officers, and may in fact be managing the entire operation.
The ship will be serving the St-Joseph-de-la-Rive / Ile-aux-Coudres route on the St.Lawrence River as other ferries are refitted
