The sign on the bow of the ship - a crescent - suggests that m/v QUIESCENCE is a ship belonging to the shipowner from Rochester - CRESCENT Shipping.
I had the opportunity to work on ships of this company twice.
The first one was m/v NASCENCE, on which I embarked in November 1992 through the MAG crewing agency (Gdynia; PL) as the 2nd Officer. The ship, chartered by the French company SANARA, sailed around the Mediterranean Sea, carrying cargo to ports located on the Rhône River (Arles, Montelimare, Sales, Lion), and after unloading, grain or general cargo was loaded to Greek, Tunisian and Italian ports. From what I remember best... The ship employed a captain, two deck officers, an engineer officer and... one A/B cook. For me, previously working on Polish ships, it was a completely new experience.
The second time I came across the ship with the crescent on the funnel was in 1997.
It was m/v LUMINENCE. Later, when I worked on SCOTLINE ships (also a company from ROCHESTER) - I met several times officers and captains who were previously associated with CRESCENT Shipping.
