Hello Teachers,
Thanks for theses pics in Manchester Canal.
You was not alone to follow this ship as we can see a drone in the NW corner of the photo.
Regards,
Yvon

Hi Yvon,
thanks for the comment and well spotted, i only noticed the drone when processing the photo.
The ship was stranded at Knutsford road swing bridge, she was no more than 50 feet from the bridge, i beleive she had her anchors down, i did not notice that as it was very bright and looking in to the sun.
The infrastructure in the top end of the canal above Runcorn is in a terrible state, constant swing bridge failures and lock failures.
Best regards.

That's a a curious situation as I suppose the ship had a pilot on board and radio contact with the bridge operator.
What is about a week ship traffic in the canal ?

From Runcorn to Manchester all we have is 1 cement shipment every 2 weeks and 1 scrap metal export every 6 to 8 weeks, but the bottom end of the canal, Eastham to Runcorn is quite busy with at least 6 daily movements.

Thanks Teachers for your reply.
Sad to see a so busy place in the past times, now less frequented.
A canal which had its specially built ships, fitted with 70 feet gabarit masts for the bridges.
Regards,
Yvon
