Description:
The 1956 Wallsend built BERGENSFJORD of Norwegian American Line seen at an unknown location sometime between 1956 and 1971.
Sold out of the NAL fleet in 1971, she later served as DE GRASSE and RASA SAYANG. Laid up as GOLDEN MOON in 1978, she emerged under the RASA SAYANG name once more while undergoing a refit in order to return to service in Australia cruising for CTC Lines. Sadly, she caught ablaze during refit work in Perama, Greece on August 27th, 1980, and was towed to Kinosoura in response, where she capsized overnight. The wrecks superstructure was scrapped, though her sideways hull remains in use as a sort of dock now.
Wreck Coordinates: 37°56'51.73"N 23°33'57.19"E
Undated slide. Purchased from eBay seller "Suburban Treasures" in 2024.
