Description:

26/01/2024, at anchor, Deception Island, Antarctica.

Built in 1915 at Vlaardingen, Netherlands, as the sailing ketch, herring fishing vessel 'Graaf van Limburg Stirum’ with registration 'KW143'.

By 1920 the vessel had been laid up & neglected.
In 1935 the vessel was sold to Danish owners and renamed 'Marie'.

Sometime during the Danish ownership she was fitted with a diesel propulsion engine.
As 'Marie' she traded cargoes until the late 1970's.

In 1985 she was sold & returned to the Netherlands for reconstruction work to get her ready for a life as charter vessel in European waters.

In 1989 she was launched as Tecla and started her new career. She sailed to Norway, Denmark, Germany, England, France and Ireland.

In 2006 the Bouwman/Sluik family bought her with the dream of traveling far and wide and maintaining this classic beauty.
